I had some other plan for this page, when I tore out the photo and painted the background. Then I carried it around in my bag for a few days. Then I started it and stopped, then added to it later. Started using it as a notepad for some stuff I wanted to have handy for later...
Big things have happened this month.
1. We finally closed on the house. We have purchased the house we've been renting for the last 2.5 years, and are really excited about it. It has been a long haul from the point when our landlord offered it for sale to us and when we signed the final contracts.
2. Spring has finally arrived, though it feels a bit like we've been dumped directly into summer. In our neighborhood, that means fog in the morning, a couple of hours of sun in the early afternoon, then fog in the evening. But it is warm over the hill, and I had a couple of lunches out on the patio last week. My roses are finally blooming, and the dahlias are coming up in the garden.
3. The new CSA farm share season has started, and we've been having a great time experimenting with new recipes using veggies we aren't sure how to cook. We've used up our whole share each week, which we are very proud of. Our bodies thank us for it, too! This week our fruit share will start, too. We had amazing strawberries all season last year, but since it rained for so much longer than usual this year, the berry crops are late.
4. R. is finally coming back to work today, after being out for a month. We have a 2-person department, and I've been runing it solo for the last 4 weeks while he's been home with his wife and their (adorable) new baby. I'm glad for him to spend the time with his family, but I'm very excited that I'm going to see him this morning. I'm exhausted and about to fall over. I'm really impressed with myself that I've managed to pull this off, and things at work have been running pretty smothly, even in his absence. But I'm tired.
5. I've been exercising really regularly for just over a month now. I walk nearly every morning, almost always a 2.3 mile loop down to the beach and back. It feels good, and I'm getting faster. The first week was pretty tough, but it is a lot easier now. My legs feel strong, my back hurts a lot less than it used to, I have a lot more stamina, and I think my metabolism is speeding up just a little. I'm hungry a lot earlier in the day than I used to be. I have a virtual workout buddy, and although we don't connect every day, it does help my motivation to know I'm going to have to report on whether I went on my walk or not.
6. I posted some photos on my flickr account. Not many yet, but a few shots of my favorite babies, a few flowers from my garden, and some knitting.
I'm a little behind here, but CONGRATULATIONS on the house!!!
Rock on with your bad self. :)
