Late in Februrary, I read about the Journal Card challenge that Emily Falconbridge started on her blog at the beginning of the year. I really liked the idea of having a full 52 card deck at the end of the year, so decided to go ahead and do the cards roughly in order, although I was behind the group from the start. Ironically, I had a big bag of playing cards that I'd found at Goodwill years ago, but they're gone. I must have purged them in one of the recent studio clean ups. Of course. This is one of the reasons I find it hard to let go of things, especially from the studio, because you never know when that random thing will finally come in handy! No matter, I found a deck of cards for $1 at Target. So here are the first two cards, which I made yesterday. Week 1: What are you proud of? and Week 2: what is powerful to you?. Each of these has some written journaling on the back side.
I also took a bunch of flower pictures yesterday, as the apricot trees in our yard are bursting into bloom. I'm sure there are less cliched ways I could describe that, but the tight little buds that turn into frilly, party dress-like flowers are so aptly described by "bursting" that I can't let the phrase go.
This boquet is on our dining room table, and bringing me so much joy each time I walk by. It is in a huge square glass vase, in the middle of our dark wood table. The fruit branches are close to 3' long, so it really fills up the middle of the room. Smells good, too, with all those fruit flowers. This photo is a lesson in "pay attention to the background of your frame" as I didn't notice that I was also capturing our ugly dark brown garage door, so focused on the tulips and apricot blooms as I was.
I LOVE your art cards too! SO glad you joined the project!
