Pizza Margharita - the epitome of simple Italian pizzas. I start with Trader Joe's prepared dough, but if you make your own, more power to you.
fresh pizza dough
4 cheese grated cheese mix (Trader Joe's again)
2-3 Tbsp. pesto
3-4 heirloom or garden tomatoes, sliced
6-7 basil leaves, chiffonaded
ball of fresh mozzarella, sliced (I used buffalo milk muffaletta from the market for the pizza above)
Roll out dough and prepare pan or stone. Spread pesto thinly on dough, then layer the rest of the ingredients: grated cheese, basil, tomato slices, mozzarella slices. Add about a tsp of fresh dried oregano, crushed and sprinked over the top, if desired. Bake according to dough instructions, until cheese is golden and bubbly. Slice and serve hot.
Heavenly.
I SO want that pizza! I'm full to the brim from dinner and I STILL want that pizza. Did it taste as good as it looks?
