My links are a little scattershot this week, which is probably a reflection of my current attention span. That is, I have almost none. A little on wrting and blogging, a little on cooking, a little on little ones.
Writing and Blogging
- For obvious reasons, I've been watching the official Blogathon Pinterest Board for tips and important links. There are some good things here for staying inspired, even if you aren't doing the Blogathon.
- I've been on and off with blogging over the years, and I was a lot off. I'm really working on being on again. A lot of the writing on the web about blogging is about making money, doing SEO, driving up subscribers. So it is refreshing to read a post like Joy the Baker's Real Talk Blog Tips.
- This is a nice succinct post about the importance of building community, something I am passionate about, but not actually very good at doing.
Cooking
- My friend Danielle just launched a new blog called Danielle's Kitchen to share her considerable knowledge about cooking for a family with various food allergies. It is going to be great!
- My ex used to make a soup she called Ground Nut Stew that was SOOO good. Unfortunately, we lost the hand-written recipe somewhere along the way and couldn't find another version that tasted the same. It has been so long now that I can't really remember the original version, but I think I've finally found a close estimation. Needless to say, this is full of peanuts, so Danielle's readers probably should NOT be trying this one!
- I love the farmer's markets in the spring time. More people every week. Little kids with strawberry-stained cheeks, and those first short-season crops like favas and garlic scapes. The Salt and Nectar blog had a guest post this week by chef Kellan Hori with tips on how to enjoy spring markets and what foods are best right now.
Little Ones
- A friend of mine recommended this book to our mom's group and it is really, really good stuff.
- I'm researching preschool options for my little Bean right now and it is a lot harder than I thought it would be. This Babble article has a good overview of some of the common preschool teaching philosophies.
- This Baby Center article covers more the less woo-woo aspects of choosing a preschool, the parts I didn't really consider until after I'd been to a couple of open houses already.
- If you are raising a girl child, read this.
I love "Joy the Baker's" link and it's so true. I got so caught up in blogging marathons and all the blogging hype that I stopped blogging. As a result, I let my blog domain expire and someone snatched it right out from under me. Lesson learned. :-) Thanks Doña.
