We took Bean with us to the polls this morning and took turns playing with her while the other filled out a ballot. She is too young, certainly, to understand what we are doing or why, but it feels important to involve her in this process, even now. I remember going to the polls with my mother when I was young and it impressed on me the importance of having one's being counted.
I have never missed an election since I became old enough to participate. A few times I have chosen not to vote for a particular measure or position when I don't know enough or have a strong opinion either way, but I have always cast my vote for president.
I was excited to see that a number of other parents had young children in tow this morning, too.
In other news, I am working on a project that is taking my attention away from this space, so I may be a bit quiet for a while. I'm looking foward to sharing what I'm working on with you when it is ready for prime time!
